First off, I’ll say that I’m a huge fan of Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern. It was his quote and his TV show that inspired me to become a more adventurous eater. Andrew always said, “If it looks good, eat it!”
Several years back, I went to Iceland and ate sheep testicle, putrified shark, whale blubber and more bizarre foods. I must say it was probably the most adventurous eating I’ve ever done. Well, this comes in second place. Dong Hua Men Night Market in Beijing is THE GO TO PLACE if you want to be an adventurous eater. You can try anything everything from A – Z. Fancy a starfish? No problem! Hankering for scorpion? Sure, which one would you like? They have a couple different options to choose from.

So this is the the point of my story where I talk about eating strange food. While I was at Don Hua Men, I mustered up the strength and stomach to try a sea horse, grasshopper and a scorpion.
Eating Scorpions
Probably actually my favorite. Not a lot of guts, deep fried to perfection. It tastes like a potato chip and honestly I could eat a few. Not that it’s my new thing, but if offered…I wouldn’t hesitate.
Eating Grasshoppers
This one definitely had a lot more…body. I wasn’t a huge fan of the guts or the wings. It definitely had a more noticeable texture to it. Yea, send this one back into the field.
Eating Sea Horses
Honestly it was like eating a bone. No flavor. Too crunchy. I can’t remember how much it costs, but you can skip this one.
